NEW COVENANT FAMILY CHURCH

"Where Families Pray and Worship Together - To Stay Together"

Church History

On April 6, 2015, Pastors G. Lee and Juanita W. Morris began a daily telephone prayer line with their prayer partners from Pensacola, Florida, Brother and Sister John and Alma Lett. Each morning these prayer warriors would get up at 6:00am and begin to pray. Word quickly spread throughout the gulf coast region, about an exciting new prayer endeavor; one where the people of God were actually encouraged to start their day with effectual, fervent prayer, praise and worship to God. What began as a prayer small prayer group in 2014, eventually grew into a mid-week Bible Study. The Mid-week Bible Study met every Thursday at The Fairfield Inns and Suites by Marriott, in Schertz, Texas for approximately seven (7) months. Then because of tremendous membership growth, they eventually relocated to their current location at 814 Main Street, Suite C., in the beautiful city of Schertz, Texas.

Each member of New Covenant Family Church is encouraged to begin their day with prayer, whether it is by way of joining the “Morning Glory Prayer Line” or in their homes. We believe “Families that Pray and Worship Together-Stay Together”.

The Beginning

During the first week of February, 2015, Pastors G. Lee and Juanita W. Morris, and a small group of prayer warriors in Bexar County, began a daily morning telephone prayer line with their prayer partners from Pensacola, Florida, Brother and Sister John and Alma Lett. Each morning these prayer warriors would get up at 6:00am and begin to pray to our Father in heaven. Word quickly spread throughout the gulf coast region, and the San Antonio, Texas area about an exciting new prayer endeavor; one where the people of God were actually encouraged to start their day with effectual, fervent prayer, praise and worship to God. What began as a small prayer group in 2015, eventually grew into a mid-week Bible Study.

By inspiration of Holy Spirit and under the leadership of the Morris’, on September 6, 2015, this small prayer/bible study group organized New Covenant Family Church, and registered this ministry as a church with the state of Texas.

The Charter

The Church was officially chartered at a special meeting held during New Covenant Family Church’s Bible Study on Thursday, September 14, 2015. There were seventeen (17) charter members who, “came forward before witnesses and openly testified of their salvation and baptism by immersion and asked for membership.”

These members requested that Senior Pastor G. Lee Morris, Sr. serve as their Pastor and Pastor Juanita W. Morris serve as their Co-Pastor. The Morris then appointed (10) elders to serve as the Church’ Council of Elders. These Elders were charged with the administrative oversight of New Covenant Family Church and official advisors to the Pastor’s. The original elders of New Covenant Family Church are:

* Elder John Lett

* Elder Alma Lett

* Elder Jean Coker

* Elder Reggie Traylor

* Elder Shay Traylor

* Elder Don Coleman

* Elder Precious Coleman

* Elder Yolanda Crenshaw

* Elder Eunice Andrews

* Elder Mary Ryles

First Service

The first service of New Covenant Family Church of Schertz, Texas was conducted on Sunday morning, September 17, 2015 under the direction of Senior Pastor G. Lee Morris, Sr. The service was held at New Covenant current location, with over fifty-four (54) people were in attendance.

Pastor Morris preached a powerful message titled “God Is Not Through With You Yet”. The Spirit of God moved in the place, resulting in many souls being touched and lives changed.

After the invitation, seven (7) souls gave their life to Christ and became members of New Covenant Family Church.

The Future

Because this ministry was birthed into existence with prayer, each member of New Covenant Family Church is encouraged to begin their day with effectual, fervent prayer, whether it is by way of joining the “Morning Glory Prayer Line” or in their homes or on their jobs. At New Covenant Family Church, we believe “Families that Pray and Worship Together-Stay Together”.

The story that has been told here also belongs to the small band of prayer warriors, who every morning, got up and came onto the prayer line, prayed and stood un the gap for their, family friends and loved ones and helped birth this ministry into existence. Each of them have supported NCFC with their time, talent and treasures. It is their story, hopefully told in an entertaining and spiritually meaningful way, that will endure and build a lasting legacy for generations to come.
